Lifestyle Newborn Shoot

Back in the fall I was able to shoot a special announcement for the Hallock Family – they were expecting a baby boy!

When Patrick was born we took some new family photos that included the newest family member, and while we did some traditional newborn poses, we also did some lifestyle family images and I think I like them the most. As you may know from previous posts, capturing the special candid moments is a goal of mine this year. The opportunity to shoot what I am considering lifestyle was amazing! I hope that I get the opportunity to do it again one day.

Here are some of the images that were captured. Laura and Pat – thank you for sharing these moments with me and I hope you will enjoy these images for years to come!

Photoginner challenge: Newborns

Photoginner challenger: Ryann

Newborn photography is no joke, it is a moment that can only be captured once and is such a privilege to be a part of. Luckily for me, my friend Lily trusted me with the honor and it was a great experience. It was something I spent a lot of time researching (PS the Sixth Bloom, https://www.sixthbloom.com/?s=newborn, has a lot of great info!), but still proved to be one of the most difficult photography exercises I have done.

Here are some images of Miles and big brother Henry. If anyone has any tips or tricks please let me know! I would love to learn more!

Philadelphia Flower Show – 2017

Hi there photoginners! It is that time of year when the Philadelphia convention center is turned into a magical place full of beautiful flowers. Last year I went and took some pictures (they can be seen here) and I think looking at those pictures and the ones below help show growth over the last year.

In addition – I have been playing around with Photoshop and gave double exposure a shot! It’s not perfect, but I am excited to continue to learn!

The Winter Months

Photoginners – it has been a while! Below are some images over the last couple of months. I have images the BEACH during POLAR BEAR plunge weekend in NJ (I couldn’t believe it either), a pie making class with two of my best friends, Winston (of course) and practice materials for my next photoginner adventure, a newborn shoot.

Enjoy and keep me posted about your next adventures!

Bowling Night, Round 1

My husband was doing some Christmas returns and saw that our local mall had recently added a Round 1, which is essentially a Dave & Busters, but with bowling.

Bowling is always one of those fun activities that you don’t do often, (unless you are in a league and are a good bowler, like my friend’s fiancé) but when you do, you have so much fun! At the end of the night you look around and all agree you have to do it again very soon!

That was the plot line of our Friday night adventure and I took a couple of images to capture the moments (much to the chagrin of my husband).

Alright everyone – I need your help! The bowling ball pictures above are essentially the same, but the have different focus points, does one stand out to you?

Christmas 2016

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. It is a time full of family and giving. I love giving gifts, and have been lucky enough to receive as well, including a new lens for this photoginner! My sister gifted me with a 50mm prime lens. Below are some images I have captured with my new lens of my wonderful family!

Football Family Fun

One of my goals in year 2 of Photoginner is to take more photos of the little moments and to capture more candids (to the annoyance of my family I am sure!).

It was absolutely beautiful last weekend and my family got together to watch the Eagles game and enjoy each other’s company. Not all of the images are perfect, but they all make me smile.

Happy Birthday Photoginner!

I can’t believe it has been one year (well one year and three days) since my first post on photoginner. I have a learned a lot over the last year and I am looking forward to all the lessons to come.

The first night with my camera the only picture (well the only one that was visible) I took was of Winston. Winston has since become a recurring subject on the blog (Oh to be a pom…Winston)!

I googled, pinterested, read, and practiced. I have learned how to use my camera in manual mode by adjusting my ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed (more on that here: What I have learned so far) I got brave and took my camera outside (Go ahead, get out there! Valley Forge Park) and have enjoyed the journey so far.

So what’s next for this photoginner? The biggest thing is I would like to keep learning! I have barely scratched the surface and have so much ahead. I would like to expand my equipment with a prime 50mm lens. I would like to learn how to properly use Lightroom and Photoshop. I would like to work on my composition and capturing the little moments. One of my favorite quotes is by Kurt Vonnegut:

“Enjoy the little things in life because one day you`ll look back and realize they were the big things.”

In the next year I hope to capture the little things and moments with my family and friends.

Here is a look at the last year!

It’s Fall Y’all!

It’s fall so we know what that means, it is pumpkin season! And while PSLs don’t entice me, getting some pumpkins and mums from a local patch is always a fun activity! Camden,  Hilly, Nick and I went to the Farmer’s Daughters Farm Market to pick out our pumpkins to carve (finished products to be posted later) and took a stroll through a corn maze! See below for the first of our fall adventures!

Sunrise

The sun rising and falling happens everyday and is a basically a right of passage for photoginners like myself. So going to the beach last weekend I brought my camera and thought ok you got this! Guess what!? It is way hard to get a good picture! After getting up at the literal crack of dawn two days in a row I only got two pictures that I actually like! Needless to say more to come on the sun, but for now please enjoy the images below!

If you have any tips or tricks on sunrise and sunset photography please let me know!
