Sunflowers, an engaged couple, and some beautiful light

I was on Facebook the other day and saw a woman who lives in my area posting beautiful pictures of a huge sunflower field that believe it or not is behind a car wash of all places!

I knocked on my neighbors door to see if she wanted to check it out, we drove the 30 minutes, and we fell in love with this beautiful green and yellow field. After we took some test shots – I called my sister and asked her if she and Nick would like to take engagement photos at this amazing place!

Lifestyle Newborn Shoot

Back in the fall I was able to shoot a special announcement for the Hallock Family – they were expecting a baby boy!

When Patrick was born we took some new family photos that included the newest family member, and while we did some traditional newborn poses, we also did some lifestyle family images and I think I like them the most. As you may know from previous posts, capturing the special candid moments is a goal of mine this year. The opportunity to shoot what I am considering lifestyle was amazing! I hope that I get the opportunity to do it again one day.

Here are some of the images that were captured. Laura and Pat – thank you for sharing these moments with me and I hope you will enjoy these images for years to come!

“I Do” Crew Weekend

How many of you have been in a wedding and the rehearsal dinner finally arrives and you are meeting the members of the bridal party for the first time? I bet it has happened to almost anyone who has been in a wedding or two! My sister is getting married in November and made sure that would not be happening this time around. In order for us to all meet each other, my sister and future brother-n-law, hosted an amazing “I do” crew weekend at our family shore house.

It was a weekend full of fun, laughs, singing, and even some Irish dancing (unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of it – so you will just have to trust me)! Everyone got along and I cannot imagine what November is going to be like because we’ve got the #GuldinTicket!

One thing I learned from these images; when you spend 8ish hours on a beach, no matter how much sunscreen you use – your skin will look red and it was hard to fix in post!

Family

I read a social media post about a photographer who recently had a relative pass away and how they were disheartened they didn’t have many pictures together. The reason was because the photographer felt as if they were being taken advantage of when the family asked if they would take pictures during family outings. However, once a family member was no longer with them the photographer realized how important it was to capture these moments.

My family is made up of the most loving, caring, and funny group of people I know. There is no other like it and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I will always and forever bother them with the amount of pictures I want to take because one of my favorite things about photography is capturing the little moments.

Now, without further ado I will spam with you with some images from Mother’s Day!

Photoginner challenge: Newborns

Photoginner challenger: Ryann

Newborn photography is no joke, it is a moment that can only be captured once and is such a privilege to be a part of. Luckily for me, my friend Lily trusted me with the honor and it was a great experience. It was something I spent a lot of time researching (PS the Sixth Bloom, https://www.sixthbloom.com/?s=newborn, has a lot of great info!), but still proved to be one of the most difficult photography exercises I have done.

Here are some images of Miles and big brother Henry. If anyone has any tips or tricks please let me know! I would love to learn more!

Confetti Party!

Ok – I am just going to come out and say it – yesterday was the most fun I have had on my photoginner journey.

Pinterest can be a good thing or a bad thing, you can find great ideas or epic fails, but I have to tell you confetti photoshoots – GREAT IDEA. Lucky for me I had the perfect models, my cousins, Maggie and Ella. They were amazing and this type of shoot was perfect for girls their age.

To shoot the confetti we used a wide aperture and a fast shutter speed. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!

Philadelphia Flower Show – 2017

Hi there photoginners! It is that time of year when the Philadelphia convention center is turned into a magical place full of beautiful flowers. Last year I went and took some pictures (they can be seen here) and I think looking at those pictures and the ones below help show growth over the last year.

In addition – I have been playing around with Photoshop and gave double exposure a shot! It’s not perfect, but I am excited to continue to learn!

The Winter Months

Photoginners – it has been a while! Below are some images over the last couple of months. I have images the BEACH during POLAR BEAR plunge weekend in NJ (I couldn’t believe it either), a pie making class with two of my best friends, Winston (of course) and practice materials for my next photoginner adventure, a newborn shoot.

Enjoy and keep me posted about your next adventures!

Bowling Night, Round 1

My husband was doing some Christmas returns and saw that our local mall had recently added a Round 1, which is essentially a Dave & Busters, but with bowling.

Bowling is always one of those fun activities that you don’t do often, (unless you are in a league and are a good bowler, like my friend’s fiancé) but when you do, you have so much fun! At the end of the night you look around and all agree you have to do it again very soon!

That was the plot line of our Friday night adventure and I took a couple of images to capture the moments (much to the chagrin of my husband).

Alright everyone – I need your help! The bowling ball pictures above are essentially the same, but the have different focus points, does one stand out to you?

Blewitt Family Winter Session

Thursday it was 60 degrees and Saturday it was 30 and flurrying! You don’t have a lot of control over the weather, but my wonderful family did not let it keep them from smiling during their winter family session.

Below are a few of the images we captured today. Thank you so much Aunt Shannon, Uncle Pat, Patrick, Colin, and Maggie!
